Took a gamble…

We had a great night at the Halifax Casino on Friday night a while back! Lots of folks out to hear the 4 acts, of which we were one! Music Nova Scotia works with the casino to organize the artists and has an emcee (Heather Doran) and sound person (Sean McGillvery on deck to carry the night off.

After our set the fabulous Ian Sherwood played (www.iansherwood.com). Ian’s natural talent on guitar and saxophone is great but it was his songwriting and singing and performance abilities that really nailed it. Relaxed, engaged and good communication with the audience really shone through. We were so happy to have Ian join us on our last tune and blow some sax. It was wonderful especially considering the fact that there was no rehearsal .

The 3rd act up was Kim Harris  kimharris.bandcamp.com along with Ria Mae (riamae.com)  playing bass/vocals, Margo Durling on cajone/vocals and Stewart Legere (facebook) on keys/vocals. Kim can sing and writes some interesting tunes in that new alt/folk sort of style that evokes well to the lyrics. Sometimes moody, sometime cute and the band did the right stuff to support the tunes for sure.

Closing out the night was Gabrielle Papillon (www.gabriellepapillon.com). She’s cute as a button and her songs have some great depth and at times humour. Gabrielle was supported by

Sean McGillavrey helped out on bass/vocals & sound!
